Hello, I did some additional testing and I can confirm that the reported problem is not an Ubuntu bug.
The ASUS K53TA notebook contains an AMD CPU with integrated graphics chip (AMD A4-3300 M APU with Radeon HD Graphics). It seems that the "missing" memory is allocated by the graphics adapter. I tried the following memory configurations (there are two memory slots): (1) 1 x 4 GB The operating system reports 3428 MB of free memory. (2) 1 x 8 GB The operating system reports 7460 MB of free memory. Hope this helps. mp. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1010245 Title: Memory not fully recognized on Asus K53TA To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1010245/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
