*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 973096 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/973096
This is not a duplicate of #973096; I'm experiencing it with Intel graphics. I'm using 12.04 with a GNOME+xmonad session on a ThinkPad T520. (It's either rarer or nonexistent when using a Unity session.) Dmesg contains the line [10170.765098] Xorg[1318]: segfault at 7fa300000011 ip 00007fa34b0b71b8 sp 00007fff90fa6a10 error 4 in Xorg[7fa34af8f000+1f0000] and Xorg.0.log.old has [ 10193.121] Backtrace: [ 10193.122] 0: /usr/bin/X (xorg_backtrace+0x26) [0x7fa34b117846] [ 10193.122] 1: /usr/bin/X (0x7fa34af8f000+0x18c6ea) [0x7fa34b11b6ea] [ 10193.122] 2: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 (0x7fa34a2b5000+0xfcb0) [0x7fa34a2c4cb0] [ 10193.122] 3: /usr/bin/X (XIGetDeviceProperty+0x40) [0x7fa34b0b7370] [ 10193.122] 4: /usr/bin/X (0x7fa34af8f000+0x128452) [0x7fa34b0b7452] [ 10193.122] 5: /usr/bin/X (0x7fa34af8f000+0x128a5a) [0x7fa34b0b7a5a] [ 10193.123] 6: /usr/bin/X (0x7fa34af8f000+0x4e8a1) [0x7fa34afdd8a1] [ 10193.123] 7: /usr/bin/X (0x7fa34af8f000+0x3d7ba) [0x7fa34afcc7ba] [ 10193.123] 8: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xed) [0x7fa34914a76d] [ 10193.123] 9: /usr/bin/X (0x7fa34af8f000+0x3daad) [0x7fa34afccaad] [ 10193.123] Segmentation fault at address 0x7fa300000019 [ 10193.123] Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). Server aborting [ 10193.123] I can give the rest of my dmesg, lspci, etc. if needed. I hope this is fixed in 12.10 - this bug is extremely annoying!
