Yes this is annoying. I love the grid and put plugins, they're the main reason I find Unity/Compiz so attractive. (I also like Divvy on the Mac for the same reason.) This used to work.
Strangely things *do* work if I do a Grid > Put Left and then Put > Put to Next Output or Grid > Put Right and then Put > Put to Next Output. In those two cases the window *stays* on the target monitor.
