In the hope that maybe this catches something I put some Precise kernels to http://people.canonical.com/~smb/lp1011792/. Those have lock debugging enabled. If you could install the virtual packages (the extras package is not required) to one Precise ami and let it run. If that locks up without any hints it still would be helpful to get another set of stack traces from Matt as I at least have matching debug enabled kernel images to compare the assembly against. The official debug packages tend to get thrown away due to their size whenever new kernels hit updates. So that is a bit of a never ending chase.
