Per your request, here is the output from: "modinfo snd-hda-codec-
realtek":

filename:
/lib/modules/3.2.0-29-generic/kernel/sound/pci/hda/snd-hda-codec-realtek.ko
description: Realtek HD-audio codec
license: GPL
alias: snd-hda-codec-id:10ec*
srcversion: 4513A8ACA8A682A191E5AE5
depends: snd-hda-codec,snd
vermagic: 3.2.0-29-generic SMP mod_unload modversions

Just for clarification, I first tested with the precise-proposed updates
applied. I'm pretty sure I saw the ALC280 patch appear in the list of
updates. However, after applying the updates, it didn't fix my "speaker
no sound" problem the way it had for others. I only compiled and
installed the latest ALSA driver (1.0.25) from source later because my
configuration for ALSA driver was reporting version 1.0.24 while others
were reporting their configurations with version 1.0.25.

Is the modinfo above what you were expecting? According to your
instructions above it is, therefore, I haven't uninstalled the ALSA
1.0.25 driver.

Let me know what further action you want me to take or whether you
require additional information.

Thanks.
