I too confirm that the search function does not work. I find the Browse function is working. These problems (of some non-functionality) seem to happen with each release of a new Ubuntu. I currently use: Precise Pangolin v. 12.04. In the past, I corrected some of the problems installing or updating Poplar (this statement about Poplar is from my memory & is over 2 years ago). I looked at the list of dependencies, tried to see the first one: coreutils 8.5-1ubuntu3 and at the terminal Aptitude said:
mark@Lexington-19:~$ sudo aptitude install coreutils 8.5-1ubuntu3 [sudo] password for mark: Couldn't find any package whose name or description matched "8.5-1ubuntu3" Couldn't find any package whose name or description matched "8.5-1ubuntu3" No packages will be installed, upgraded, or removed. So, while I was going to go through that list, one object at a time, I will now wait for superior minds to fix this.
