Yes, it shows an icon in the system tray, but my idea is that a notification popup message should appear on screen, and of course this behaviour would be customizable through the system notifies module in kcontrol or systemsettings, the same way as knetworkmanager does, for example.
I think it would be nice to have this message showing when new updates are found, and of course you would be able to deactivate it in order to make the notifier less intrusive.
