I think I found something that helps - I'll admit I can't piece it all together on my own, and I've had ZERO feedback here, but to save someone else YEARS of digging, I found this: LFE channel disappearing: http://askubuntu.com/questions/53802/subwoofer-sound-preferences-problem
Doesn't help anything with the static/squeaking/bit-shifting, again, more than willing to help here if someone would even acknowledge a human has READ this...... But it so far has fixed my disappearing bass problem, and several other peoples' as well. (The important part: This is just a guess, but in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf set enable-lfe-remixing: no to yes and make sure it is not commented (has no semicolon in front of it). If you made changes, save them and restart your system (or just pulseaudio). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1004593 Title: LFE disappears on 5.1, 4.0 has LFE channel, high pitched squeals (bit shifting?), several versions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-workspace/+bug/1004593/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
