Thomas: did you actually test that change? During verification here, a standard 3G ppp connection has $6 as the DBUS path (/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/PPP/X) and not nm-pptp- service-* as is suggested by the patch.
So it sounds like the patch is partial at best (only working for pptp) or just not working at all.
