And this started happening recently.
After the initial installation of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS everything was OK.
I believe, the problem occured after an upgrade (I upgrade everything all the
time.).
So, when I try to turn the brightness up (using the Fn + Arrow UP buttons) the
dial goes up only a quarter and stops.
I still can control it from the "System Settings/Brightness & Lock" window
though ...
The driver is: Intel® Sandybridge Mobile.
