We are in the process of uploading a new -fglrx driver, which fixes some
issues when exiting X. I'm curious if your problem may be similar.
Would you mind testing installation of fglrx 8.37.6 and see if it
resolves the issue? (I've also created Gutsy debs at
http://people.ubuntu.com/~bryce/Testing/)
