I tried it on some more programs. It affected every KDE program I tried, including: kcolorchooser (copying from a text box), kwrite, konqueror, kcalc, okular.
I tried some non-KDE Qt programs, all of which were also affected: vlc, anki, qsynth, qtoctave. This makes me suspect it's a KDE and Qt problem, rather than a problem with these specific apps. I have therefore added KDE core and Qt to the list of affected projects.
