Hi, I think the suggested package names were just incorrectly named in the message. I'm currently using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and after installing xscreensaver-data-extra and xscreensaver-gl-extra, all the screensavers seem to be enabled. However, the xscreensaver GUI suggested xscreensaver-extras and xscreensaver-gl-extras, which there are no packages with those exact names in the repos.
However, as for comment #2: after I had installed xscreensaver-data- extra and xscreensaver-gl-extra, I uninstalled them and moved the .xscreensaver file as you suggested to see what would happen. After that, it simply said "Not Installed" rather than the previous message. I think this message is fine since less info is better than false info, but I'm just not sure whether it was the installing and uninstalling of those packages or if it was the .xscreensaver file being regenerated that caused the message to change. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/860285 Title: "Screensaver Preferences" window suggests packages unavailable in the repos To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xscreensaver/+bug/860285/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
