This confirms that in 12.04 we are able to set profiles with pavucontrol that are not accessible from gnome-control-center sound settings. In our case for profile `Analog Stereo' (non-duplex) we need to run pavucontrol. Sound settings only allow `Analog Stereo Duplex' profile.
