Public bug reported: gecko-mediaplayer no longer works in Chrome in Ubuntu 12.04. (currently Chrome is in version 20, but it has been like that for a while)For example, go to http://fredrik.hubbe.net/plugger/test.html and choose video > AVI(divx) from the menu and the gecko-mediaplayer plugin crashes in such a way that a window for gnome-mplayer pops out of the webpage and it just freezes. This happens on every site that I have tried. Even the audio player crashes. For divX streaming I can use the totem plugin (though not as good) but for sites that require Windows media player gecko seems to be the only Linux option.
On Firefox everything works without issue. Also gecko-mediaplayer works perfectly on Chrome (same versions, currently 20) in Ubuntu 11.04 and Fedora 17. So there may be a problem with the Ubuntu 12.04 build of Chrome or gecko-mediaplayer. I have installed gecko-mediaplayer 1.04 from the standard repo and upgraded to 1.06 from a ppa https://launchpad.net/~ed10vi86/+archive/video, The same problem exists for both versions. ** Affects: gecko-mediaplayer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1024773 Title: gecko-mediaplayer not working in Chrome To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gecko-mediaplayer/+bug/1024773/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
