For some weeks I had similar crashes and sent endless crash reports. Then found, that the crashes were related to clicking on certain mail-folders. Digging into .thunderbird.... I found that those folders contained dublications of sub-folders. Before I had cleaned up my mails and TB didn't organise the folders in .thunderbird/.../mail... accordingly: some folders were doubled, some were kept with old name, some not shifted...
