Hi. If i remember it correctly it worked out of the box in Oneiric. In Precise it did not work at release day, but it got fixed later at some point after a lot of people had problems with HDMI not showing up in sound settings. So in Precise it works fine on "3.2.0-26-generic #41-Ubuntu".
