I wanted to point out that, in my case, this problem is a mix of two
problems:

1. the device is not recognized correctly - therefore btusb does not get loaded.
2. btusb once loaded, i was not able to connect to any bt-device, unless i 
either rebooted from windows, or fired up my Windows Virtualbox.
