I'm afraid the bug still exists in latest upstream linux-image-3.0.0-22-generic Something broke after version linux-image-2.6.35-28-generic. So I still need to keep both versions around: first, boot into 2.6.35. It initalizes FakeRAID hardware properly. Then, reboot into 3.0.0. I'm marking it as active.
