Your /etc/init.d/cups was from an upstream installation, so apparently you did something like "make install" from an upstream tree. I suggest you do something like
sudo rm /etc/init.d/cups /etc/rc*/*cups apt-get download cups sudo dpkg -i --force-confmiss cups_*.deb to restore the Ubuntu configuration files. ** Changed in: cups (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1016376 Title: package cups 1.5.2-9ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1016376/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
