I have a feeling the gma500_gfx module might not be compiled in the Ubuntu kernel. I am building a custom kernel to test this assumption right now, but my poor netbook is very slow. :-) I will report back with the results. The kernel in question is the latest quantal kernel with gma500 and suboptions enabled.
