I am effected by this bug as well. My situation is more like this bug that was marked as a duplicate of this one. Specifically, I am on 12.04 precise and my apt error stems from this:
ERROR: Module usblp does not exist in /proc/modules start: Job failed to start as the other bug reports. However, the impact seems to be the same. In addition to issue breaking cups, samba is effected as it is dependent. If more information is needed let me know. As a work around, I removed cups + all dependents (including samba which i need here). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1008837 Title: package cups 1.5.3-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1008837/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
