Hello, I am running a Toshiba Satellite L775-S7108 Laptop using the
AMD64 Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I am also unable to shut down via the Terminal
using the normal shutdown command or the suggested (gnome-session-quit
--power-off) in my question. And the GUI dialogs for shutdown are the
same. My laptop only restarts.

Link to my question: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
session/+question/201898

Since I am very new to ALL Linux OS's I have yet to learn the terms used
by everyone.
