I tried running that command, but it failed with this error:
ERROR: connecting to Launchpad failed: Unable to find server at launchpad.net

This is not surprising, because the machine's ethernet is broken. I've
been using my Windows laptop for connecting to the internet in the
meantime, going through the same switch.

For cases such as this, apport-collect should have an option to save the
information it generates to local storage: then I could transfer its
reports to my laptop with a USB stick and upload them directly.

I would be willing to collect any additional information to help with
this matter, just let me know what to provide.
