I tried both kernels you mentioned, with this command:

sudo fwts s3 --s3-multiple=100 -r some-file-to-output-results.log

Both 3.3 and 3.4 were able to suspend/resume 100 times (I think it's a
reasonable number, much higher than anything we've tried, so if it
manages to complete those 100 iterations we should be fairly confident
it's working OK).

So the "stabilizing" changes seem to have happened after 3.2 and before
3.3.
