I would like to add that I have a Lenovo laptop with an Intel Centrino Wireless N (forget the model number) running Ubuntu 12.04 amd64 as well and that laptop does not experience any of the issues that my Samsung laptop faces. This makes me think that the issue might not be just a driver issue alone as this uses the iwlwifi driver as well. It probably is a combination of driver + model. -- Aravind
