It doesn't have space because for some reason the temporary directory in which the file is being initially copied may not be the external drive. I have emailed you a newer copy of the program that will provide extra debugging output. Please extract the tar file, run the program from the tar file, and copy and paste the --debug output into this bug report. There is no need to manually install the program from the tar file -- you can run it from it's own directory.
