Kernel 3.2.0-25-generic-pae as provided yesterday through update-manager has fixed this issue for me with Nvidia GT520 graphics under Ubuntu 3D, i.e. Unity, whereas the former version -24 would only resume properly under LXDE. (Can't roll back to integrated Intel GMA 3100 Q35 on-board graphics for now to make sure whether this has been fixed as well.)
