For the record, "Power/OS Power Management/ACPI S3 Hard Disk Reset: Enable" in the BIOS Setup makes no difference whatsoever. Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Windows 7 on /dev/hda1 have been resuming from suspend without issue on the same machine either way.
