Please package latest stable version 1.4 of April 23rd, see
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/
and for May, version 1.5 has already been announced.
Also increase the package update speed since this is an *essential* part
of day to day work for many users of Ubuntu, even though it is, in form,
just an add-on of Thunderbird.
People can always install the add-on manually but then there would be no
use for this integrated package anymore. This will happen is the version
is lagging behind. Also many other calendar or task list related add-ons
in Thunderbird require Lightning to be at the latest stable version.
Last but not least, another reason for wanting to prevent users choosing manual
installation over installation of this as an Ubuntu package is that it will be
more difficult, if not impossible, to offer Thunderbird as an option in
gnome-control-center in
All Settings / Details / Default Applications / Calendar
to handle ICS files.
Therefore, please increase the update speed of his package.
