I also had this problem, the solution is to edit the
/etc/default/schroot file and modify the setting of SESSIONS_RECOVER to
be "end" instead of "recover".

I've only just discovered this by reading what the /etc/init.d/schroot
script did, it checks the setting of SESSIONS_RECOVER, and if it is
"end" then it will end all current session(s), otherwise it will restore
the current session(s).
