I don't know if this will help or not. See bug #116870. There may be glibc issues with audacity. Or maybe not. Under my Gutsy install, Audacity doesn't load at all, and here is the backtrace. It may be a stability problem that started in Feisty and has magnified in Gutsy. Susan
