This is still a problem running ubuntustudio 12.04 on a netbook. As of may 2012. I am using an Acer aspire one model KAV60.
If I boot with network-manager disabled (in /etc/init mv network- manager.conf to *.fnoc) even though the ath9k module is loaded there are no xruns with jack set to -p 128 (lowest this HW supports). With Network-manager enabled, I get one xrun/minute with the wireless running. If I turn the wireless card off either with the wireless switch or with the netman applet, I get an xrun every 5 seconds. I tried: sudo stop network-manager I still get an xrun every 5 seconds. nothing I can do with the wpa_cli command seems to help either. Finally I tried: sudo modprobe -r ath9k That worked, but no wireless :-( (of course) The irq thread for ath9k has a priority of 50 while the irq thread for the sound IF is at 85. ath9k is on irq 16, snd_hda_intel is on irq 45 ath9k shares irq16 with ehci_hcd:usb1, uhci_hcd:usb2, i915 but snd_hda_intel is on irq 45 alone. While it is a pain, I do have a workaround by removing the kernel module while doing low latency work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671240 Title: ath9k locks kernel in 10 ms, causing e g audio dropout To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/671240/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
