Public bug reported:

I use the binary NVidia drivers on a laptop. When I turn on the machine,
the first thing I do is open NVidia settings and disable laptop display
and enable my two external monitors in Twinview configuration.

This causes the background image to be rendered improperly. The left
screen is fine, but the right screen has the background rendered wrong.
See the attached screenshot - I used a red line to show where the two
monitors split. Worthy of note is the fact that when I enter the
activities overview, the background will render correctly while I am in
the activities overview, and return to the incorrect rendering when I
leave activities
