Public bug reported: OK, something has happened with my usual log in on Ubuntu. CPU use is at or almost at 100% even though I don't have more than a couple of apps running, and vlc crashes with a segfault or the video almost freezes (very choppy). I tried creating a test user account and none of the problems happened there.
