Perhaps my explanation was not clear. The "Passphrase" option for setting the wireless key is broken. The hex option still works. This has happened on a netbook recently upgraded to UBUNTU 12.04 and on another PC upgraded to kernle 3.2.0-24 in KUBUNTU.
