Public bug reported: I recently upgraded my system from Lucid (10.04) to Precise (12.04) doing a full, fresh installation.
On lucid, my KVM switch (Aten CS682) was working properly switching the linux machine and another windows machine. The only thing which did not work were they multimedia keys on the keyboard, but I assume that this is a limitation of the switch. One more thing worth noting is that the devices had to be plugged in reversed (keyboard in mouse port and mouse in keyboard port) into the KVM switch. Now with precise, the switch is basically unuseable. Even when booting the live system, the keyboard is not working when I plug it into the keyboard port of the KVM switch. This is true both for console and Xorg. When pressing the hardware button on the KVM switch the screens are switched correctly, but the keyboard remains non-functional. I get messages like this in the syslog: [ 1726.109776] generic-usb 0003:046D:C313.0034: can't reset device, 0000:00:1d.7-3.2/input0, status -71 When plugging in the keyboard and the mouse into the "proper" usb ports on the switch, the mouse does not work both in Ubuntu Lucid and Precise as well as with Windows. I attached some log files, both with the keyboard directly plugged in into the machine and the "dead" keyboard when plugged into the KVM switch. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete ** Tags: precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/995545 Title: Regression: Upgrade to precise (12.04) breaks KVM Switch Aten CS682 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/995545/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
