Public bug reported:

Subtitleeditor crashes a few seconds after startup with following error
message in the terminal:

*** glibc detected *** subtitleeditor: malloc(): memory corruption:
0x0000000002edcad0 ***

It is very reproducible as I tried it 3 times and it crashed every time.
The first two times when I tried to open a video file: I could select the name
of the file but then subtitleeditor hangs, without showing the video.
The third time I tried to open a subtitle file first, which was shown in the
window of subtitleeditor, but then it crashed before I could hit the Video menu.
