Public bug reported: (Note: attached info refers to a fresh install, not the one reported here, which was a failed upgrade from Oneiric.)
While upgrading from Oneiric to Precise, I saw a notice of calculated changes (how many packages would be installed, replaced, etc.) and advice to close all open programs. I used alt-tab to see what programs, if any, might be open. The notice, with its option to continue, then disappeared and never came back. The task switcher showed that the upgrade program had two windows. But I was only able to access one, a small "Distribution upgrade" window, showing the progress of the upgrade. But there was no apparent way forward; no further progress was possible. (I aborted the upgrade.) Expected behavior: The task switcher should have worked normally, and I should have been able to continue the install.
