Public bug reported: (Note: Any info in attached files here refers to a fresh install, not the one reported here, which was an attempted upgrade from Oneiric.)
During install: I exited all programs but neglected to turn off x-screensaver. My fault. So the install routine, while configuring libc6, opened a window that said: ----------------------------------- x-screensaver and x-lockmore must be restarted before upgrading. One or more instances of xscreensaver or xlockmore have been detected on this system. Because of incompatible library <ok> ----------------------------------- But no response seemed possible. Neither "escape" nor clicking on "ok" had any result. Expected behavior: Either a way to take action should be made clearly apparent, or the user should be told, in effect, "Sorry, nothing you can do. Start over." (Also: Perhaps, to protect the installation process from dummies, the user should be warned in advance to turn off all screensaver programs.)
