@Alex Burfee, sadly the fix don't make it to the final version, but the patch is already released in the kernel 3.2.0-24.37 (the final version comes with 3.2.0-23)
You should 1. wait for 12.04.1 to be released on July 19, or 2. blacklist the problematic module following instruccions in comment #6, for this you must start with a live cd and add the blacklist to the /etc/modprobe.d/ of your actual instalation (not the modprobe.d of the live cd) and reboot. 2.1 when boot to the desktop update your system, and if you need the ite-cir then remove the file for the blacklist. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/984387 Title: [Dell Studio XPS 1340,Alienware m17x] Kernel panic with 3.0.0-19 and 3.2.0-18 on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/984387/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
