Public bug reported:

Since I updated to 12.04, lightdm freezes for a few seconds before I can
enter my password. While it is frozen I can already see the window and
user names, but the background image is missing (I only see the dots)
and I can not see the password field (the empty space where it should
belong below the username is there however)

I believe this is connected to slow loading / caching of the background
image, because if I quickly lock the screen 2-3 times and switch to
lightdm from within an active session, the problem is gone in subsequent
attempts. It returns when I wait a while and do different things before
trying to reproduce the problem.
