Eric Youngdale, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please provide the information following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume ? As well, can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . However, note you can only test Suspend, not Hibernate, when using a LiveCD. If the issue remains, run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal) as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.
apport-collect -p linux <BUGNUMBER> Additionally, if you could try to reproduce this with the upstream mainline kernel that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Tags added: needs-bisect needs-upstream-testing regression-release resume suspend ** Description changed: I had resume from sleep working fine with 2.6.38-8 (I had to add the kernel option acpi_sleep=nonvs). But once 2.6.38-10 was installed, that no longer works. I wiggle the mouse in an attempt to wake the machine up, and it sort of tries to wake up (the light-up power light comes on solid), but nothing happens on the display. The machine is a Dell T5400 with an NVidia 8400GS video card. I tried to use "ubuntu-bug" to report this, but that tool failed with an assertion failure. A separate issue, I guess. - --- + --- AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.
