acroread was removed from feisty for a few reasons afaik the main reason
is it was no longer being supported. Firefox needs an outside plugin to
handle PDF files. please search for a new plugin to handle them in the
repos (there are a few) and tell me if this fixes it. firefox needs to
save the PDF because it has no way to open it. Please give a fully
detailed set of instructions with PDF files you can reproduce this with.
What version of firefox are you using? If this happened after upgrade to
feisty and the acroread app was causing it to work correctly this is not
a firefox issue as you did not replace acroread with a working app. Try
it and let me know.
