What is the exact command you run in xrandr to make it work? It looks like there may be an issue with your monitor's edid. Do you use any adapters or kvms or unusual cables to connect the monitor? Does the monitor work properly with other computers? If so please collect the output of 'xrandr --verbose' from that system.
