Christopher, I'll try to do what you ask when I get a chance; right now I'm using Ubuntu 10.04. I'll see if I can install the daily build of 12.04.
Meanwhile, I did some more testing: I removed the NVidia driver using its "--uninstall" option. Then, I did modprobe nouveau and the SYSTEM CRASHED INSTANTLY !!! It seems that the culprit is the video driver. One thing worth mentioning is that the main graphic card is an NVidia 8800GTS but there is also a Radeon graphic card embedded on the motherboard. Maybe that's where the problems come from. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/981813 Title: Linux freezes when playing video To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/981813/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
