Hi Clayton - This sounds like it could be related to a bug I just filed (bug #980746). With my bug, the laptop suspends if I choose suspend from the system menu or by pressing the power button, but not if I close the laptop lid. Is that what you see as well?
Could you run "upower --dump" after reproducing this issue, and paste or attach the output?
