Public bug reported: I upgraded to Oneiric, I am running gedit.
Version: cat /proc/version cat /etc/issue uname -a Linux version 3.0.0-17-generic (buildd@roseapple) (gcc version 4.6.1 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.1-9ubuntu3) ) #30-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 8 17:34:21 UTC 2012 Ubuntu 11.10 \n \l Linux popoi 3.0.0-17-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 8 17:34:21 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux Gedit version: apt-cache policy gedit gedit: Installed: 3.2.3-0ubuntu0.1 Candidate: 3.2.3-0ubuntu0.1 Version table: *** 3.2.3-0ubuntu0.1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3.2.0-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages Set up: Open gedit Create/edit some files Have multiple file tabs open in a single session of gedit Switch to firefox Want to switch back to gedit using the unity left sidebar Expected behavior: Gedit icon in unity sidebar should have "active" triangle on it's left. Clicking gedit should show the last text document that I was working on. Actual, buggy behavior: Gedit icon in unity sidebar does not have an "active" triangle near it. Clicking on the gedit icon successfully opens the active, existing window of gedit, but it also opens a new tab with an untitled document, moving the focus away from the tab with the document that was actually in the process of being edited before switching windows. This makes it very hard to continue editing when switching back to the gedit window is so disruptive. ** Affects: gedit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: active-application gedit unity ** Description changed: I upgraded to Oneiric, I am running gedit.
