I have the same problem.. on an update my CPU load is at 4, but CPU usage percentage around 5%, enough memory. The update process takes extremely long, where it took seconds before. I'll have to reinstall with ext4 the next days, because btrfs is obviously not ready to be used. This is after a clean Ubuntu precise installation, no ext4 upgrade.
