I am having the same issue. Dell XPS 1340. The problem started with
Kernel 3.0.0.18 (3.0.0.17 works). Upgraded and tried 3.2.0-22.35 and
3.3.1-precise both panic at boot. As a test I burned a clean beta2 amd64
DVD, and tried to boot off that to eliminate any configuration issues,
and I still get the kernel panic. Right now booting off the 3.0.0.17
kernel is my only working solution. I have been trying to troubleshoot,
unfortunately I can't seem to get a log of the error and the panic
screen scrolls to a point that is extraordinarily unhelpful. I will keep
trying to figure it out, just wanted to +1 this issue, and share what I
knew so far.
